BIOGRAPHY Narriel is a mixedblood elf in a world where elves are viewed as second-class citizens. Pureblood elves kept to themselves ostracizing all others and forcing them to be nomads including Narriel's family clan. They had been travelling north after hearing many stories of a community of free elves when they were attacked by a gang of slavers. Despite being seen as second-class elf slaves were seen as incredibly valuable and owning them a status symbol. Elves were used as both for domestic uses and pleasure. Narriel was captured alongside most of her clan, including her mother and siblings. Her father, uncle and the rest of the elves were killed - none of them escaped.
Narriel spent hundreds of years in slavery. Elf slaves were seen as a status symbol and more often than not female elven slaves were used by their male masters. Her last master was son of a high ranking lord, Friedrich. Friedrich spent his time torturing Narriel for sport. Inventing new ways to inflict physical harm on her. She spent decades being brutalized by him, and occasionally his friends. He eventually cut off her ears, keeping them as a souvenir, before asking one of his guards to dispose of her (as he had grown bored of her and according to him she was covered in so many scars, he needed something "fresh"). Instead, the guard known as Wulff, brought Narriel into his home, he tended to her wounds and helped her pass as human. He taught Narriel how to hunt and fight, promising he'd help her get revenge. There was a brief possibility of romance between the two of them, however, they never had the chance as the Friedrich found them and enraged that Wulff had freed Narriel, had him killed.
Narriel managed to escape, vowing once again to kill Friedrich and the slavers once she had the chance. It was around this time a war had broken out, despite his sadism Friedrich was a brilliant general making it more difficult to kill him. Narriel began to be referred to as the Shadow (as that is often what she appeared to be), with many rumours over who she really was. When she could she would track down her former masters and kill them. While she was unable to find her siblings she found her mother who was the mistress of a lord and ran a brothel made up of elves, dwarves and other non-human creatures. She revealed that she had been freed years ago and ran the brothel by choice. At first Narriel didn't believe her, but her mother claimed to love her new life.
Eventually, she returned to Friedrich, now an old man, in order to kill him. When she asked if he remembered her, he claimed not too - realizing in his old age he had lost his memories Narriel hesitated in killing him. During that hesitation, a child came into the room - his granddaughter. The girl asked Narriel if she was the Shadow, saying her grandfather told her stories and that she was a hero. Narriel confirmed who she was, and when the girl asked why she was there - Narriel said she thought she saw a bad man, now she saw nothing. She left without killing Friedrich.
Having lost the revenge she had craved for so long, and not getting her family back Narriel was at a loss of what to do. She continued to roam the land, acting as the Shadow. She still holds out hope to be reunited with her siblings one day.
PERSONALITY Narriel often comes across as cold and uncaring, but in many ways, she is really the opposite. She cares and she cares a lot. She hates any form of injustice and harm toward others. Most of the time she uses the money she gets from killing people to free slaves. She often speaks in cold and clipped tones, her voice rarely showing any emotion. She does not like speaking, mostly because she doesn't enjoy company.
However, her thirst for revenge has sometimes caused her to make stupid decisions. She also often only sees the world in black and white and isn't always the most levelheaded in situations when pushed to see the world as anything but. Having been driven by revenge for so long Narriel isn't sure what to do with herself without it.
She is slow to trust and quick to judge. She has a deep seeded hatred of humans, despite having been shown kindness on more than one occasion by them. She also has little regard for other elves - especially pureblood ones as she believes they abandoned her people.
While not adverse to the idea of friendship or love, they are not things Narriel would seek out for herself. She prefers to be alone, despite at times being lonely. Due to her time as a slave, she doesn't like being touched or any type of physical intimacy even if in a way she is touch-starved. It would take a lot of build-up and a lot of trust for her to be open to any of this (however I am VERY open to shipping her with characters, I'd just prefer to discuss it first. I see Narriel as biromantic demisexual but she isn't someone who would willingly be looking for romance and if she did realize she had feelings for someone she would do everything to push them away).
VERSES
LORD OF THE RINGS; Narriel was originally created as a LOTR oc a long, long time ago. She was friends with Legolas (and had feelings for him because this was the early 2000s so, , of course, , she did). She was slightly brash and often sarcastic and had a need for adventure. Now that both Narriel (and myself) has changed, her place in LOTR has also changed. Similar to her main backstory Narriel has experienced extreme cruelty and lost her family at the hands of man. She hates men and she hates elves, believing her kind had abandoned her family due to their mixed blood status. Despite her hatred of men she works as a hired assassin and Orc killer. She has no connection to any established characters but I'm totally open to discussing the possibility of her knowing them (especially elves).
DRAGON AGE; A city elf, formerly of Ferelden. She caught the eye of a human noble and when she turned down his advances, he had her captured and tortured. He cut off her ears and then eventually left her barely alive out on the streets. She is taken in by a mercenary gang who has her healed and trained to be an assassin.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS; A half-elf rouge who will 100% be your grumpiest companion who is more interested in fucking, fighting or killing than anything else (or a combination).
